How Gay Relationships Influenced my current relationship

Growing up I never saw a stable relationship within my family, I on the other hand came from a broken family. My mother and father had separated before I was born, my aunts and their husbands would fight regularly sometimes physically. Domestic violence was normal in my household , I saw how my aunts had assholes for boyfriends and I observed how my uncles never kept a woman. That had a negative impact on me because I thought that behavior was normal ,and that if I ever got with a man in the future those same treatments would await for me. At such a young age I got the idea that I would never marry or have kids.

At five years old I was first exposed to a gay couple, at that age I didn’t even know there was a word for those types of relationships. No one told me they were in a romantic relationship in the first place, my family didn’t talk about those types of people because mind you they were homophobic. That first gay couple that a saw lived in our apartment and I remember looking at them, they didn’t kiss or get touchy but I just knew what they were.

Every day I would see them making breakfast and dinner together. They held hands when sitting at the table and when going out. They were always peaceful, they way they talked about eachother was just so thoughtful and respectful. Till this day I look up to them for they were…
